Chapter Spotlight: South Forsyth High School is Powered by its New HOSA Members!

South Forsyth High School HOSA kicked off this school year with a BANG! The introduction of the Biotechnology Pathway has significantly enhanced South Forsyth HOSA by increasing membership and active participation. The pathway offers healthcare experiences aligning with HOSA’s mission to create future health professionals, boosting membership and involvement while allowing students to explore what HOSA entails. Now, with a thriving chapter of 400+ members, including a surplus of new ones from just this year, South Forsyth HOSA has taken membership involvement to the next level! General meetings have had over 200 members attend consistently, and all of our members were excited to see the different speakers and activities that were present. With a popsicle social, a card making activity, and a winter festive hot chocolate activity, each and every member took part in learning more about HOSA! Furthermore, South Forsyth was able to make a true impact on their local community. Taking part in the “South Forsyth: Food Fight,” a food drive for The Place of Forsyth, SFHS HOSA excelled! With members pitching in over 350 cans and $515 donated, HOSA became the grand champion, placing 1st, and carrying South Forsyth to winning the food fight! Beyond this, SFHS HOSA took on an initiative to help Helping Mamas, an organization donating supplies to underprivileged mothers and children. These include everything from baby wipes to clothes, all of which are essential to those in need. Through this drive, Helping Mamas received over 587 Baby Supplies! SFHS HOSA has also been creative; taking part in the Trunk or Treat Event held by South Forsyth, HOSA made an incredible display. Filled with a talking skeleton, a horoscope ball, fake blood, and so much more, they achieved 1st in the trunk-decorating competition! Beyond this, SFHS HOSA members led the Tree-Lighting Event and Santa Workshops at The Collections, making a difference in the Holiday experience of hundreds of kids! South Forsyth High School HOSA thanks the new advisors Patricia Hungerbuhler, Kaylee Brower, and Jennifer Clendenen for their tremendous support and guidance to leading the HOSA chapter to new heights and beyond. Ultimately, with more excitement for projects and conferences yet to come, South Forsyth HOSA is excited to see what it’s in store for the upcoming semester when powered by people!
