Chapter Spotlight: Floyd County College and Career Academy- Spreading Kindness and Positivity One Step at a Time!
The Floyd County College and Career Academy (FCS CCA) HOSA chapter is beginning the school year with a new kindness and positivity initiative.
Their first mission was to bring smiles, cheer, and happiness to every teacher and faculty member at the FCS CCA. This was done by taking our new healthcare department “Woot Woot Wagon” filled with treats, snacks, and drinks on it's first trip to show some appreciation for all these wonderful people do to make our school the best place to be. Our students had such a fun time delivering these treats and even said it made their day to spread the happiness around!
For their next assignment, healthcare students were asked to write something on a sticky note that would make their day if someone were to say it to them. They were then challenged to take that same sticky note and give it to someone from outside of the healthcare pathway who they may not usually talk to, or someone who may have just needed something to brighten their day. Along with spreading kindness and positivity, this initiative also encourages our students to step outside of their comfort zone and approach/communicate with new people, just as they will have to do in any healthcare career that they pursue. While the goal of this was to serve others, our students returned after with a new sense of pride, excitement, and happiness from being able to make others smile!
